Baroque Trend - Translating Runway Style To Everyday

My favorite bloggers have already explored the beauty and decadence of the Baroque trend in the past few weeks. As most of the world heads into the cooler months it is quite fitting that this should be a Fall 2013 trend but I'm in love and can't wait to swaddle myself in some of the trends luxurious elements even though we're heading into the Australian Summer. So here are some ideas on how we can capitalize on the look and get an extra season out of the trend ;)

Dolce & Gabbana gave us an army of beauties lavishly decorated in black and gold. Look for details such as embroidery, lace, sheer panels, applique and anything ornate. For jewelry stick to gold and regal gemstones.

This Golden Garden Dress available at Modcloth embodies the trend perfectly with it's gold embroidered overlay. Coming in at a teeny tiny $74.99 it's perfect for a wedding or that office cocktail party over the holiday season. Come Fall 2013 layer it up with a luxurious velvet blazer and opaque stockings. A few dollars well spent!

If black and gold is too strong a statement for you or you feel the color scheme is too heavy for Spring / Summer D&G gave us the option of luxurious fabrics such as heavy laces and pretty and rose prints that can be worn through Fall and into the warmer months.

Every lady simply MUST have a lace dress in her wardrobe! There is something about a cream or white lace piece that screams luxury and I personally find the color allows the detail of the lace itself to take center stage. This Anna Sui lace dress is an investment piece in it's classic color and styling. Even with it's long sleeves it's still a great pick for the cooler Spring evenings here in Melbourne and will easily see you through into Winter. Pair it with striking gold accessories for an opulent look.

Take a light and fresh approach to Baroque with this little strapless rose pattern dress from Asos. Another example of how this trend can be cross seasonal. This piece would be perfect on date night or pair with a light cardi and pointed toe pumps for a special Christmas lunch. But wait...throw on some sky high strappys and a striking red lip and you're ready to party into the New Year. At $114 it's a great alternative to the little black dress ;)

I can't wait to get my Baroque on! Will you be wearing this trend through the warmer months as well?

Enjoy!

Sneaker Wedge Trend

Here at GoS we are very girly but we have always had a soft spot for sneakers. We've seen sneakers reinvented in so many ways whether it was bold and unusual colors, prints or cuts and yes we even own some serious spiked heel sneakers ourselves.

Over the past few months we've seen the trend grow and reinvent itself yet again. It seems sneakers are all the hype, but we're not talking about your funky pair of gym trainers as seen at the Olympics. It's all about the sneaker wedge!! Isabel Marant ushered in the wedge sneaker trend with her Willow sneakers with their 3 inch wedge as seen on a multitude of celebrities. These kicks started out at about $760– that's if you can still manage to get your hands on a pair. They are currently selling on ebay for 1k!! YIKES

Isabel Marant - Perkins
Then there was Marc Jacobs who took sneaker wedges to the runway at fashion week for his Spring 2012 collection. As Spring approaches us in Australia we wonder if the local fashionistas will get in on the trend.

Marc Jacobs

But don't be disheartened if you're still keen to own a pair of sneaker wedges without breaking the bank similar styles are flowing through without the extra expense. Asos has their very own version in the asos ark for less than $160!

Nine West Original Sneakers have the Perri wedge in a range of colors for $85!

I'm sure we'll be seeing many more of these coming through our chain stores as the weather heats up in Australia. So for that effortlessly cool look grab a pair to wear with your colored jeans or a cute skirt!

Steal Her Style under $100 - Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton Pink dress

We adore Kate Middletons Emilia Wickstead ladylike pink dress so much we simply had to do a steal her style. And we did it for under $100 for all of those out there like us who have to crunch the numbers when shopping.

Copying a style can be hard to match exactly sometimes so we recommend searching for the details of the piece you love. For instance with a dress pick a piece in the same color, length, cut or with the same detailing. Don't be afraid to look for second hand items either as many details and styles have been around before.

In keeping with the theme of recycling looks we've started our "steal her style"  inspiration with some truly "recycled" items. First up we have a 1970's vintage pink dress from etsy at just $59.00

Here's another little gem - Etsy Pink pleat dress at a mere $25.00

Here we have a the same pink color with pleats in a different cut from Asos for $64.60.

Finally we have pink dress with cap sleeves and pleat detailing from House of Fraser at $70

Style inspiration - Head to toe seasonal dressing for under $160

We're all trying to get the most out of our wardrobes these days. As the seasons change we don't have to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe and we don't need to steer away from our beloved spring / summer pieces.

Today we're going with some casual style inspiration and making what may be considered a summer dress work in the cooler months. We started with a cute trapeze style mini with leather strap detail.

We added brown leather pull on boots  a steal at only $76.50. We paired the boots with some over the knee grey socks at only $6.80. To top it off we have the cable knit another steal at only $34.00! All available at Asos

This whole look comes in at only $157.30!! On the bonus side those leather boots and that cardigan will see you right through winter and autumn as you pair them with jeans and maxis. When spring hits wear the dress and boots on your festival rounds. Great style does not have to cost the earth!
