How To Create Celebrity Style Sexy Beach Waves - DIY Salt Spray

It's getting HOT down here in Melbourne and we are just two sleeps away from it being Summer officially! As the temperatures soar today I won't be making it to the beach *sigh* but that doesn't mean I can't create that super sexy, fresh from the beach wavy look at home. And no ladies, in this heat we do not want to use tongs, curlers or wands. All we want is texture and a slightly matte finish to create that authentic beach babe look and that means we need SALT!!

DIY SALT SPRAY MIX

Here's what you'll need

1.) Grab yourself a plastic spray / mist bottle. Check out your laundry or bathroom cabinet before you head out to the shops you may just have one floating around (be sure to clean it thoroughly first!)

2.) Fill the bottle with warm water adding 1 and a half tablespoons of sea salt per cup of water. Stir until dissolved. If you're having trouble dissolving the salt heat it in the microwave in 30 second increments, stirring until all the salt disappears.

3.) Add a tablespoon of your favorite hair gel (if you don't have any the mix will still work without it)

4.) To add some moisture and lessen frizz add a few drops of smoothing serum or a teaspoon of coconut oil and give the bottle a shake.

STYLING YOUR HAIR

DRY HAIR
Spray salt mix on dry hair scrunching as you go. Tuck hair behind ears and allow to dry naturally. When hair is dry bring hair out from behind your ears and give it a shake. This creates a soft tousled look with a defined wave framing the face.

DAMP HAIR
Shampoo and condition your hair the night before. Dry hair to about 80% with a towel and hair dryer (just run your fingers through your hair do not brush out your natural waves). Spray salt mix all over running your fingers through it. Tuck hair behind your ears and make a low braid in the back and allow to dry overnight. This method is great if you don't have naturally wavy hair as the braid will create defined waves.

It doesn't matter what length your hair is or what color this style is perfect for everyone, it's super simple and super cheap. For those days you want to be effortlessly sexy go ahead and try our salt spray recipe, I'm sure you'll look a million bucks!

Enjoy!

Trend Spotting - Celebrity Style Embroidery

We are so delighted to see some of our favorite fashion trends going strong and being worn beautifully on the red carpet. Look for features such as lace, sheer fabric, embroidery, over the knee styles and sleeves to get in on what's trending.

Zoe Saldana is always a favorite with her infectious smile and she did not let us down with her latest outing for the premier of "The Words". The lovely actress wore one of our favorite designers - Elie Saab. Her gold embroidered lace dress from the Fall 2012 couture collection was perfectly ladylike with it's over the knee length and three quarter sleeves. There is a hint of sexiness in the silhouette cut close to her frame and the sheer aspects of the dress. Beautifully done Zoe!

Selena Gomez continued the trend in a Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2012 dress featuring sheer fabric, embroidery and lace. We love the overall styling and would love to add this dress to our wardrobe. Even though we are amongst the biggest fans of ladylike dressing we do feel this is a tad too mature for someone as young as Selena...perhaps it's just the color?  Considering this was a photocall for her new movie "Spring Breakers" something a little more playful with all the same details would have been more suitable. Other than that the look is flawless.

Vanessa Hudgens was cute as a button and ever so ladylike when she hit the red carpet with Selena Gomez for "Spring Breakers" in this darling black and white 50's style dress from Blumarine. We love the black embroidered leaf overlay and the sheer boat neck detail. This is one of those perfect dresses that can be worn by women in a range of ages and is flattering to a number of shapes.

Enjoy!

Celebrity Style Inspiration - Flower Crown / Garland Headband

When we think of flower garlands in the hair we think of 1970's weddings... little bridemaids with oversized flower crowns... sitting in the school playground braiding daisy chains for our hair... ahhh... nostalgia....

The flower crown has seen a steady rise in the past 12 months or so. One of it's earliest re-incarnations was seen on Lana Del Rey who wore it big and bold, definitely not for everyone. We love the newer, softer, more subtle take on it because you don't need to be 15 years old to wear it.

We love Keira Knightleys version. It sits on the crown of her hair and the single color keeps the look from being too girly or hippy. A wonderful modern take that screams elegance and romance this look would be a perfect updo for a bride.

Vanessa Hudgens is every inch the hippy chic on the festival trail with her garland sitting across her forehead in a traditional style.

You would be forgiven for mistaking Kirsten Dunst for a Swedish Princess with this delicate garland styled headband. It sits high on her crown, the colors are soft pastels and golds which softly blend into her golden hair. Go for a tonal garland if you want a soft look like this.

Una Healy is a vision with her tumbling locks and delicate garland. The colors of the garland compliment her hair beautifully and we rather like the matching eye shadow. This look leads us into the boho bridal garland as this would be a perfect look for that special day.

Inspiration for the boho bride who wants to wear her hair down and be crowned with flowers. This look works well with or without a veil.

Beautiful waves paired with a bold, striking garland creates an ethereal feel for the bride who does not wish to wear a traditional tiara of veil.

Finally a big, beautiful, bold headband version that you can create yourself from styletodiyfor . This is perfect for the diy bride or for a day at the races. We'll definitely be giving this one a go at home!

Enjoy!
