MTV Europe 2012 Fashion Fails

It's been a while since I've done a Fashion Fail Friday but yesterdays MTV Europe Awards red carpet left me so disturbed I simply could not wait for Friday.

I always expect a little OTT at MTV awards, even more so when it's in Europe but there is quirky and OTT then there is just plain wrong.....

One of my least favorite looks of the night was Heidi Klum. I've seen this dress and those shoes on the runway and even then it was a questionable design choice. It saddens me that Versace is pulling out yea olde designs :( Why Heidi...why???

Coming in a very close second was Rita Ora in Marchesa. In a case of good dresses going bad the problem was not the dress, it was the wearer. Rita gets away with her overly yellow hair with dark roots on most days but it ruins and cheapens an otherwise regal dress.

Kim Kardashian, although not the worst dressed did look like she had tacked on a tail of black plastic bags in a Stephanie Rolland creation reminiscent of Ursula the sea witch. Perhaps we should give her a thumbs up for recycling?

Finally Lana Del Ray has left me somewhat confused. I quite like her midnight blue satin crossover dress but it seems out of place on an MTV red carpet. The bouffant beehive channeling Priscilla Presley back in the days of her marriage to Elvis makes me think Lana has not quite got over Halloween.

Holly Willoughby had her face made up to look unzipped : ghoulishly gross and perfect for Halloween!





Kim and Kanye arrived as cat woman and batman along with friends dressed as batman character the joker. Not to be outdone, their bat mobile of choice was a gold Lamborghini.





Diddy arrived as you guessed it: symbol formerly known as prince... or is it symbol again?

Seal dressed as a Boston Celtics player



Sum 41 front man Deryck Whibley dressed up as his beloved ex wife Avril Lavigne while Ari Cooper accompanied him dressed as her fiance, Nickle back front man Chad Kroger Lol! this is about as creative as it gets.



Ellen DeGeneres dressed as fellow cover girl Sofia Vergara, check out those shoes LOL




Sandra bullock and son Louis went as Toy Story characters Buzz light year and Jessie Delux.

Kate Middleton - Red Dress Diamond Jubilee River Pageant

In her latest outing the Duchess of Cambridge looked resplendent in an Alexander McQueen 2011 red dress with pleat skirt.

The bold red dress tied in beautifully with the rich red and gold theme of the Diamond Jubilee river pageant. Being a fall 2011 dress it has already made the rounds. We've seen it on the likes of Tulisa Contostavlos and Kim Kardashian. Out of the three looks Kate is a clear winner. In fact, we even prefer Kates version to the original look on the model.

It's not only about the color but the length and added sleeves on Kate that makes this dress a much bolder statement. The pleated skirt on Kate has so much more movement and definition as well as the little collar over the hipline. We even adore the pretty little hat. Our only gripe, which is a small one, is the platform nude pump. We wish Kate had opted for something a little less chunky to complete this utterly ladylike ensemble.

Overall we feel Kate has taken what looked like just another little red dress and made it powerhouse worth paying attention to. We're off to look for a red dress to add to our wardrobe right now!

Style Inspiration - The Must Have Red Jacket

Every wardrobe simply must have a red jacket. It is a color we come back to season after season. Seeing as we're in freezing Melbourne we wanted to bring you one of our lovely vintage finds to bring some color into your life.

The cut is a 1960's style box shape which is designed to be worn loose and sits above the hips. It is double breasted and has two silver buttons and slit pockets on the front to keep the silhouette lean. This classic box shape with wide lapels is a very flattering cut and can take you from the boardroom to a weekend bbq with ease.
